Lawsuits Against Truvada, TDF HIV Medications

TDF (found in Truvada, a popular HIV medication) or Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is a drug used to help treat chronic hepatitis B and to help prevent and treat HIV/AIDS. Current lawsuits claim that exposure to these drugs can cause kidney problems and bone loss. Users have also claimed to have developed increased osteopenia, a condition resulting in bone weakness and loss of bone mass.

So far, there have been no global or public settlement as the litigation against Gilead, the manufacturer of TDF drugs, is still ongoing. Forester Haynie is currently investigating claims of injury associated with use of TDF drugs. If you or a loved one believe you have experienced negative side effects from using a TDF based medication please contact your doctor as soon as possible to get confirmation then contact an attorney at our offices to get started on filing a claim against the drug manufacturers.

Drugs Containing TDF

Truvada, Viread, Atripla, Stribild and/or Complera, are all well known medications containing TDF. All of these may cause problems to users.

Truvada is the most popular HIV medication using TDF that many users have begun associating with kidney problems and bone loss. Lawsuits involving problems with Truvada will be directed at Gilead, the drugs manufacturer.

So far, hundreds of Truvada lawsuits against Gilead are pending in (multiple) state and federal courts. Current lawsuits claim that not only is Truvada or TDF a dangerous drug with overwhelming side effects, but that Gilead withheld a safer alternative, tenofovir alafenamide, or TAF, in order to maximize profits.

Unfortunately, we expect more users of this drug to come forward and file claims. Those who took Gilead’s other HIV drugs containing TDF — Viread, Atripla, Complera, and Stribild — and experienced side effects may also reach out to find more information about ongoing lawsuits.
