A recent study has linked some popular cow milk-based baby formula products to NEC or Necrotizing Enterocolitis, a potentially life-threatening digestive disease. Popular brand names including Enfamil and Similac were listed, among others, stating that they may increase a child’s risk of developing this disease that primarily affects the intestines and may results in local infection, inflammation, and may even destroy intestinal tissue and cause permanent damage.

If your baby developed NEC after receiving Enfamil or Similac in the NICU or hospital, you may have a legal claim.

Multiple lawsuits have sprung up after baby formula manufacturers knowingly failed to list NEC as a possible side effect.

Health Risks Associated With NEC
  • Intestinal perforation
  • Intestinal infection
  • Abdominal infection
  • Sepsis
  • Death

NEC can cause catastrophic intestinal and abdominal damage that often requires surgery to repair, and in some cases can even be fatal. Any surviving infants may also suffer from lasting health issues, including neurodevelopmental conditions, short bowel syndrome, and growth failures.

Cow’s milk-based infant formulas and milk fortifiers sold under popular brand names including Enfamil and Similac may increase a childs risk of developing NEC.

The Forester Haynie Law Firm is currently investigating claims of negative side effects caused by cow milk-based baby formulas.
