The American Cancer Society conducted a research project with more than 33,000 women. In summary, women who reported using hair relaxers more than four times in a year are about twice as likely to be prone to uterine cancer. As a result, a few cosmetic companies that sell products linked to causing cancer have lawsuits filed against them. Additionally, another study from 2019 found an increased risk of breast cancer in women who use hair relaxers and other hair products such as hair dyes. The study found that women who did not report any use of hair relaxers only have about one percent chance of developing any form of cancer. However, the study concluded that prolonged use of toxic hair products affect about 4.05% of women. If you or someone you know has a history of using these hair products, there might be entitlement to compensation.
Some Illnesses Linked to Toxic Hair Products:
- Uterine cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Endometrial cancer
- Uterine Fibroids
